Electrical Equipment Overhaul
As well as the manufacture and design of electrical and electronic components and systems we have the expertise, skills and capability to overhaul and upgrade ageing rolling stock equipment.
ART has facilities in Sydney, Melbourne and Rural NSW. All Three facilities contain sectioned areas for Electronics Testing and Repair.
Our premises contains an electronic room that utilizes technology from high end ‘clean rooms’. We use sealed doors and a system of positive pressure air conditioners to ensure a clean environment to carry out specialised work.
Equipment Includes
- Hipot tester – for continuity, resistance and electrical isolation testing for assembled wire harnesses and new equipment
- Programmable automatic function testers – for full function testing of new, overhauled and repaired equipment
- Industrial oven – heat/cycle testing of new equipment builds
- Insulation Meter – isolation testing for new, overhauled and repaired equipment
- Custom built testers for functional testing
- Variable DC power supplies – routine testing between min/max voltage ranges
- Oscilloscopes, LCR meters and multimeter – Signal measurement for routine measurement
Vacuum Toilet Systems
Utilising specialist equipment designed to simulate onboard system functions, ART is highly experienced in Servicing, Repairing and Overhauling a range of Vacuum Toilets manufactured from leading OEM suppliers.
In addition to workshop capability, ART has access to the complete range of spare parts and overhaul kits required to assist the most complex maintenance programs.
Signalling Equipment
ART manufacturers a range of Signalling Test Equipment and Meters. ART provides support to this product range through test and calibration services.
These services are conducted in house by experienced technicians and in some cases by specialist partners. All Testing and Calibration follows strict adherence to ISO 9001 Standards, which ART is fully certified to.
Active Obsolescence Management
ART is committed to supporting aging Rolling Stock both Train and Tram fleets and has successfully completed Midlife Overhaul programs and Life Extension programs for its clients.
Specialising in obsolete part identification and sourcing direct like for like replacement parts, ART has the expertise to reverse engineer and find solutions to active obsolescence.

ART provides Maintenance, Testing and Repairs to Fire Detection and Suppression Systems. ART is your Local Warranty and Service partner for Fogtec Fire Protection Systems and is committed to providing rapid response in the event of faults as well as delivering professional maintenance services.
Isolator Refurbishment
ART’s pedigree in manufacturing network isolators enables clients to be confident in our ability to provide through life support for critical infrastructure such as Isolating Rail Connect Switches.
The success of a network relies on high quality and dependable equipment as well as committed maintenance suppliers. ART proudly Services, Repairs and Overhauls all ART network isolators, including subcomponents such as motor drives and controllers.

Australian Rail Technology is experienced in the upgrade and repair for products under the Fischer Industries brand.

Various Fischer Industries Data Loggers, including major overhaul programs for the Mk 1 Data Logger and power supply upgrades for the Mk 2 Data Loggers

Relay Racks and Relay Modules
ART is certified to Repair to manufacturers specifications a range of relay racks and modules originally manufactured by Leach International. ART has specialist simulation equipment designed to test and report on Relay Module function. The simulator is a critical system used to identify faults and assist in confirming the condition and working operation of the Module and individual components.
ART has highly experienced engineers and technicians providing support to Local Maintenance regimes conducted by the major Rolling Stock Operators.
Driver Cabin Controls, Master and Foot Controls

Specialising in Subsystem overhauls such as Master Controllers, Foot Controllers, Drivers Desks, Capacitor Banks, Electrical Control Boxes to name a few ART has the expertise to reverse engineer and find solutions to active obsolescence.
Service, Repair and Calibration
We also service, repair and calibrate a wide range of Signalling and Electronic instruments and equipment as well as servicing other signalling test equipment and devices.
ART are the preferred vendor of the Authorities for Power Supply repairs and upgrades.
