UGL Driver’s Desk Panel System
Phase 1 — Design & Prototyping (2016)
ART began design and prototyping for UGL’s driver’s desk panel system in 2016, developing bespoke solutions across illuminated panels, signal isolation, and calibration infrastructure. The initial per-desk scope delivered:
- Prototype solutions for client evaluation
- 5 fully populated, illuminated, and loomed panels with Harting connectors for efficient installation and hot-swap capability
- Blue LED backlit indication for rotary knobs — a patented ART design
- Mating looms for all illuminated panels
- 3 non-illuminated panels
- 2 mixed signal isolator units
- 2 analogue signal isolator units
- 1 backlight power supply module
- 1 calibration backplane for existing speedometers
32 consists (64 sets) were delivered to UGL in 2020.
Phase 2 — ATP Integration & Fleet Expansion (2021)
Following the initial delivery, ART was engaged by TfNSW and Ricardo Rail in 2021 to upgrade the panel system to meet evolving operational requirements. This scope covered:
