Screens to Traction Return Switches, Auburn Maintenance Facility

Australian Rail Technology was asked to design, build and install three protective screens to the Traction Return Switches at Downer Rail’s Auburn Maintenance Facility. New working platforms were being built below the switches which created the need for a protective screen. In collaboration between the Engineering and Production teams at ART and Downer Engineers, an onsite visit was conducted in order to ensure the design met both the physical and electrical constraints required by the screens when fitted to the switches.

A rail possession took place on the weekend of the 15th and 16th of August, 2015 and the screens were successfully installed on the first day at the Maintenance Facility. A photograph of the completed screens can be seen below.
