Negative Links and Earthing

The rectifier negative link is located between the rectifier negative terminals and the 1500V series reactor in a traction sub-station. It provides the break between the rectifier and the negative return rail when maintenance is performed on the rectifier.

The rectifier negative link will pass traction current when the link is in a closed position and will isolate the rectifier from the negative return rail when the link is in a open position.

Examples of installations

Australian Rail Technology produces a number of negative links for NSW railway sub-stations with different arrangements including ‘built-to-print’ in accordance to Railcorp drawings or custom build applications.
