Embracing new products and technologies

Australian Rail Technology is a leader in the rail industry regarding new technologies and premium electrical products. As a company we are continually growing by extending our product range through partnership with other companies and manufacturers.

High-current contacts

Australian Rail Technology is the sole supplier of 1500V DC isolators for the entire RailCorp network in Australia. We also supply 600V DC isolators for Melbourne and New Zealand.

All isolators feature unique low-resistance, low friction, zero-maintenance hinge joints, as well as robust overall construction for long life and safe operation. These are available in many different layouts, configurations and options.

IP enclosures

Australian Rail Technology can offer many options for IP rated enclosures. We can supply off-the-shelf, custom adaptations and direct OEM replacements. Examples include:

• Electronics enclosures
• Low and high voltage junction boxes
• Terminal boxes
• Computer and relay housings

Custom designs and adaptations are created with attention to every detail. Seals, hinges, latches, welding and fasteners are all considered during the design so that the IP rating is not compromised.

We have valuable experience with fabricators to ensure quality products. Our equipment and welds are frequently tested and passed by third party NATA IP inspectors.

Typical ratings for rolling stock applications (under floor, frame mounted)

• IP65 no dust / no water (low flow)
• IP66 no dust / no water (high flow)

Additional options:

• Sun shields
• Impact panels (ballast and vandalism protection)
• 304/316 stainless, powder-coating

Leach relays

We recently entered into a partnership with French-owned Leach International Asia Pacific. Leach products are predominantly made for the aircraft and aerospace industries. However we have partnered with them to develop miniature relay switch panels to be used in a train system.

These miniature relay switches are space-saving devices, which provide significant cost savings to the train end-user. These relays can save up to 80 percent space on the train compared to traditional devices, which can ultimately help the train company save millions of dollars over long service contract periods. This is the first major project in the Australian market where these relays have been used in rolling stock.

Australian Rail Technology are now the authorised Australian agents for Leach relays (Esterline).  We can supply Leach relays as individual components, through to a complete power and data distribution system.

Leach relays can be configured as form fit replacements for obsolete relays. These adaptations utilise modern Leach relays and can be built on to existing connector headers, as direct plug in replacements.
